So the actual event went so well, there was a huge crowd for Lilly to shave her hair and it was such a success.
We have people still donating on the go fund me page which is amazing, our aim is to keep the page open until the end of November whilst we collect all Lilly’s sponsor’s in and then tally up how much we have raised for the Luton and Dunstable hospital.
So far we have totalled £4,000 and hoping to hit 5k 🤞🏻
We want to thank every one who has helped us get to this point in raising so much. Now so many people will be able to have a well deserved break from cancer !!

Last week we were in the paper and it helped us so much to get the event out there. I want to thank holly patel for sorting that out, it was a great help and doing so, we are now over target and it looks as if not only can we buy vouchers for the chemo patients we can also give the a whole day cost free, so thank you x
the past month has been crazy!!! My last blog was all about doing a bucket list and sticking to it. Well that hasn’t even been a possibility at all yet!!
So where to start is the thing!!!
Three weeks ago we had a treatment plan, I was happy because for the first time I felt there was some sort of structure with my cancer treatment. I found out my brain tumour had grown to now 2cm – 2.5cm so my Dr decided to put me back on a chemo drug, I had a drug called kacitabine which consists of 5 tablets twice a day, plus I was still going for my herceptin drug intravenously every three weeks. Two days into the tablets they were cause me chest pains and such a sore throat.
I was asked to stop abs start them over 4times to see if it was a reaction to the tablets!!! ( of course it was) after a two week period of stopping and starting I had enough.
So I Revisited the doctors again and he changed my plan again!!!
A new tablet, this time only one a week and herceptin jab in the leg. Less time at hospital and less drugs, I felt good.
That soon changed!!!
Just a few days later I started to feel unwell, I couldn’t sleep on my head at night, if I layed on the pillow I would wake up with terrible heads aches, so bad that my sight was blurry when I woke up and had server migraines.
I was taking pain killers throughout the day, through the night, it just wouldn’t budge.
Then I started to get pressure head, the only way I can describe the feeling is I would stand up after sitting and it was like a start of a head rush, then it would travel to my ears and the only way I can describe that is the feeling of driving 70mph with a window open in your car, the throbbing sound not being able to hear well, then it would travel to my eyes like bad sinuses and throb and eventually ease off!!!
That kept happening everytime I got up, or sat down to quick, even to the point of not moving anymore!!!
It got to the point that on Friday last week I couldnt take anymore!!! I knew something wasn’t right. I decided to go hospital and get checked over!!
They did an mri head scan and a mri spinal scan. During that week I lost function to my left foot so the doctors wanted to check my spine as well.
After the results they have put me on a high dose of steroids as the tumour has grown more which had a lot of swelling all on my right side of my brain causing all these symptoms!!!
If it doesn’t rain it pours!!!
Waiting for the call!!!
All day yesterday I was waiting for a call from my oncologist, it got to 5.30pm and I thought again there not gonna call!!! I was waiting on a discussion from Queens court London hospital what they think the best treatment to have will be.
Finally they rang about 7pm and after looking at the scans they have decided to go ahead with hammer knife radiotherapy surgery!!!
Gamner knife Radiopharapy Surgery
It’s a great type of radiotherapy that targets the exact area of the tumour without affecting other parts of the brain.
I’ve had gamer knife before and the first time felt scary!! Mainly because of the brace they bolt into your skull but it sounds worse than what it is!!
This is what I’ll be going through again next week!!
How Gammer knife works!!
So that’s my update for the past month!!! It’s been hard getting to write anything because of how the tumour is effecting my mind, concentration and everyday tasks!! But I will be posting my next treatment journey for you all to follow!!!
Even though no matter what I’m going through there are so many in the same predicament, I’m just grateful there are still options for me.
So yesterday I and my husband have decided to explore hopefully many of the great British heritage places around the UK.
I have decided to start a bucket list and could decide what I what to put on it because I have what I want which is my wonderful family. So I thought about anything that I’m intrigued with and just things to do that’s isn’t soo costly as well. Most people put things on their bucket list that aren’t achievable and are unrealistic to achieve. I know that’s the point so you can push to do the things you wouldn’t but mine is different as I want to actually just be able to do different things with my family and husband because of my diagnosis.
So my bucket list so far is
Visits Stonehenge and many historic sites
Weekend in Barry and visit all the filming sites of Gavin and Stacey. (One of my favourite sitcoms.)
Family holiday abroad
Try and do something once a week which is scary or achieve something.
It’s working progress!!!
Back to our visit to Stonehenge. The drive wasn’t too bad, it took it’s two hours to get there. We’re glad we had tickets as if you didn’t buy a ticket you can’t really get that up close to the stones.
I want to say thank you to my brother Colin who brought us the tickets the day before. If your wondering you can pay when you get there also but it’s a bit more expensive.
Our tickets were bought online. Here is the link in which you can purchase them.
So I’m sitting at home just relaxing on this raining Friday afternoon watching Gavin and Stacey. It inspired me to blog about what they’re up to and what I think about the new upcoming Christmas special.!!
So we’ve all heard James Corden and Ruth Jones have finally decided to write another Christmas special!!!!
I’m soo excited as I’m sure many others are too.
They started filming the special last week back in Barry and I can’t wait to see it !!!
My husband and I will be travelling to Barry island in a few weeks to go to all the iconic filming scenes, a new blog to follow with an update on it.
I wonder if it will be just as good as the first one!! I do wonder tho if it was good I dear to do another one. Sometimes it can ruin the whole series. I have my fingers crossed that it’s not a disappointment.
Over the past ten years, people talk about Gavin and Stacey, soon as it past November we all start seeing people posting that there watching the Christmas special. It was the Christmas special that made the show bigger than they thought it would ever become.
Love Actually star Joanna was spotted in a festive outfit of red midi dress and plum coloured patterned coat, despite the summer temperatures at the moment.
She completed her look with pearl earrings and a pair of ankle strap heels.
Mathew was seen in his character’s typical get up of dark jeans, tan shoes, a grey top and a short black and red tartan Harrington jacket.
I can’t believe it’s already been 1 month since I became Mrs Scanlon.
All my friends and family telling me to make sure I take it all in because it will be over in a blink of an eye and I was. But I did listen to them and I love that I remember so many fantastic things about that day.
One thing I’m not enjoying is changing everything over to my surname !! WTF it takes soo long. I’ve only done two things.
One thing I’m so happy about is our wedding video. It’s so beautiful and I couldn’t be happier.
It captured all those memories. X
Big C Update!
I wanted to touch on an update on my diagnosis. So after the wedding a week later I went for an MRI scan and yes the Brain tumour has grown Again!!!!
So currently I’m waiting for my doctor to let me know what will be the next step!!
I was supposed to get a call last Friday as they had a meeting at queens court London but haven’t heard anything.
Two things I’ve noticed about cancer docs and giving news!!! They always tell you the news on a friday, so you end up having a total utter shit weekend!!!!
Then seem to take ages to let you know what’s going on at times!!!! What the hell!!!!
anyway, at least I was told the okay to still have my chemo treatment. So friday i had my treatment again.
An update on the cancer part of my life will be posted soon as I know.
So the past two weeks I’ve been super busy.
I wanted to touch on the fact my beautiful caught Lilly is shaving all her hair off in support of people going through chemo at our local chemo ward.
to raise as much money she can to give them something they could appreciate, by hopefully raising enough to be able to get vouchers/days out/week end So they can spend quality time with there loved ones. Going through it myself I know that’s what counts when you feel like it’s constant appointments, treatment, scans and more.
So Please help my daughter to reach her goal and donate below.
